Personality-wise, I think I am more like my father. He was a relatively quiet, level-headed man. Easy to interact with. He was also fairly handy — he had a workshop with tools and hardware, and was able to take care of small repairs — though my mom also was handy. Both my parents were smart. These are all characteristics that I have.
My mom was quite creative. She had a great voice, and sang all the time. She used to be a singer in a band — I think formed by (or containing) some of her brothers. It’s interesting that I learned the words to many songs that were popular long before my time because my mother sang them during my childhood. I once found myself at a social event where the songs performed were those older songs — and the only people (besides the singers) who knew the words were an old grandpa and me. My mom also drew and painted quite well, and helped her children spend time creating art. I have these creative aspects that my mom has: strong interests in music and art.
Appearance wise, I do look like my dad. We were of similar height and weight. There’s a phone app that ‘ages’ a photo of you — and the result when I did this to a photo of me could have been a photo of my dad.
So in summary, I believe that I have characteristics of both my mom and dad. From my dad: appearance and personality; from my mom: creativity; and from both: intelligence.
