Breathtaking View

We looked at a house in the Santa Cruz mountains uphill from Woodside — back when I was working a lot in Palo Alto. The house itself was pretty unexciting and far from civilization — but the view from the back deck was amazing. Could you image morning coffee or evening cocktails looking at this? (while the evil forest goblin waits for nightfall to make his move…)

My Pearl

We’re close enough to the coast that we duck out for oysters pretty often. The ocean cools our summers but warms our winters. Here’s a mid-winter oyster run with my lovely wife.

Waikoloa Resort

Photos of the Hilton Waikoloa resort on the big island of Hawaii. It is massive, and beautiful — they have a train and a boat to get you from place to place.

Holiday Party

Some photos from the Salesforce end-of-year holiday party. It’s a fun, over-the-top event. They rent a large, warehouse-like building in SF on the water (Pier 48) across from the baseball park, have a live band, dancing, games, tons of food and drink — a great time. The bands are usually someone you’ve heard of — last time it was The English Beat. I’ve included a photo of Ann with the band. (Once, I almost got into a fight with the Salesforce co-founder and CTO — but that’s a story for another time.)

We go to this party every time (didn’t happen end of 2020 because of the pandemic), and we hotel in SF to make it easier. Looking forward to the next one.

Special Delivery

Wouldn’t this be a lovely package to receive in the mail?

We went to a Penn and Teller show is Las Vegas, and they invited the audience on stage to inspect the props before the show. My cute wife thought it funny to pose in this box.

Great show, by the way. And I got to take this woman home.

Beauty and the Bridge

I’ve come to realize that good photos have wide visual contrast: light vs dark, bright colors vs black, etc. This photo is from a neighborhood near Washington DC — I think. (I’m having problems finding the original in my photo library.)

I’ve added a couple more nice photos from the same trip:

Video Stars

I’m realizing that this site is as much an adventure/travel site as it is an ‘art’ site. Lots of good stories. This pic is from a bar in the boonies (Bodega) where we were extras in a David Luning music video. Ann is making friends with a local. Here’s the link to the music video: https://youtu.be/DoJiylG0go8 — we’re about a minute in.

Yum

My wife is a good poser. This is at a winery in Paso Robles — a fun trip, we’ve been to Paso Robles a couple of times now.

Beer Goggles

Surprisingly artsy pic taken at Lagunitas beer garden the evening before it was closing down in Dec 2020 because of a pandemic flare-up. (Ignore the guy with the beer belly.)

UCSC

Very near Will’s dorm. He’s walking us back to our car after we moved him in at the beginning of the school year. I tried to photoshop out the laundry basket, but my skills are poor (Will’s arm was floating awkwardly) so I gave up.
