This is a partially-finished, freehand, digital drawing of an artsy photo from Kathleen’s college graduation photo shoot. I may finish it someday. You can see the photo that inspired it here.
We bussed to downtown Boston to hang at the Top of the Hub — a restaurant on the 52nd floor of the Prudential building. Ann landed us a window seat for dinner, and it was breathtaking.
Very near Will’s dorm. He’s walking us back to our car after we moved him in at the beginning of the school year. I tried to photoshop out the laundry basket, but my skills are poor (Will’s arm was floating awkwardly) so I gave up.
I had problems with the lighting on this one. Originally, I didn’t spread the moon’s reflection across the water (I made it a single blob) and it looked wrong. The trees’ lighting is still wrong — they are lit from the front and not the rear.
Autodesk acquired Alias in 2006, including the products Maya and Sketchbook. Once the dust settled, Autodesk held a contest asking employees to submit Sketchbook drawings. Mine was selected, and I won a coffee table book of digital art. Hence, I can now call myself a ‘prize winning digital artist’.
